Sometime in 1996, percussionist/drummer Tony Chamberlist conceived a musical direction that would revolve around old friend and musical compatriot Glenda Rae.  Working with guitarists Jon Ochsendorf and Brett Wade, the group forged an exotic mix of pop, soul, and r&b music, easily identified by the soulful vocal blend provided by Glenda, Jon, and Brett and spare instrumentation anchored by a huge djembe hand drum that Tony had mastered.  Various attempts to describe the music resulted in the group's name - Acoustic Groove.

As time went by, Jon eventually excused himself from the ensemble to attend to other priorities, leaving a huge hole musically.  Just prior to Jon's exit, Tony befriended Mike Taylor, after meeting in a Vancouver area shop that retailed used musical instruments.  Originally from England, Mike settled on the West Coast after spending several years in Saskatchewan. Tony recognized Mike as the perfect replacement for Jon, with his pocketed acoustic guitar style, and intuitively soulful vocals.

Today finds Acoustic Groove performing in various venues and configurations, from a pared down duo (Mike and Tony), trio (add Glenda), quartet (add Brett) or even a quintet (with multi-instrumentalist Miles Black).  The music has matured like a fine wine, and includes superb interpretations of pop, soul, and r&b classics, as well as exciting original compositions.  Acoustic Groove would love to perform at your venue or private function!  Just give us a call...
